Songs

In 1827, when Clara Fisher crossed the Atlantic and arrived in New York at the age of sixteen, she delighted audiences both with her skillful acting and delightful singing voice. I came across the sheet music for three songs from the actress’s extensive repertoire in the collections of the New-York Historical Society and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Thanks to singer Jonelle Sills and accompanist Jon Suncuaco for bringing these songs to life again at a December 2015 recording session.

Song 1: “Wilt thou meet me there Love.” Composed by B. Hime.

Song 2: “The Merry Mountain Horn.” Composed by Henry R. Bishop.

Song 3: “I Have Fruit, I Have Flowers.” Composed by Joseph Augustine Wade, Esq.
