April 7, 1845, my company and myself left Mobile for St. Louis and arrived at New Orleans the next morning early. I engaged a passage for myself on the steamer “Harry of the West,” for St. Louis, and left on Wednesday, April 10th, Master Joseph Burke, the young and highly gifted comedian and musician, was a fellow passenger.
