Popular Actress in Her Youth and Noted Actor’s Widow—Her son, Gilbert, Is in London

Mrs. [Bijou Heron] Miller, the daughter of Matilda Heron, an actress, was an actress herself. She retired from the stage after her marriage. She began her career in 1874 as a child, later playing Juliet at the age of 12 in a special matinee. She was said to be the youngest Juliet on record. In 1874, she played Oliver Twist to Fanny Davenport’s Nancy Sikes in a dramatization of Dickens’s famous novel at the Fifth Avenue Theatre, near Twenty-eighth Street. She became very well known as an actress.
