MEMPHIS THEATER.—Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor was presented last night, with Mr. Jack in the great character of “Falstaff.” Mr. Jack’s rendition of this character has received the commendations of the press of other cities, and this praise has been fully endorsed by the people of Memphis. The interest in the legitimate drama is increasing rapidly in our city, and would continue to increase if such actors as Mr. Jack appeared on the boards of the theatre during the entire season. Mr. Jack was ably supported by the company. The afterpiece was much enjoyed. Master Julian Reed appeared as “Little Pickle,” and astonished all by his remarkable imitations of Booth and Forrest. To-night, Henry the Fourth will be presented.
